TV for Hotels – Whats New in DIRECTV for Hospitality

DIRECTV Advanced Entertainment Platform - TV Systems for Hotels and Hospitality

DIRECTV for Hospitality recently launched the Advanced Entertainment Platform (AEP) with a combination of features that to our knowledge, don’t exist anywhere else in the industry.  It is now DIRECTV’s premier video platform.

With AEP, DIRECTV has combined the best of live satellite programming with over-the-top DIRECTV On Demand content from nearly 50 programmers,  into a single product for the ultimate hospitality entertainment solution.

DIRECTV’s Android-based solution makes it easier than ever before for guests to watch whatever DIRECTV On Demand content they want, whenever they want, in their hotel room.

How is In-Room Entertainment Changing?

What should Hotel owners and operators be looking for to maximize the entertainment experience they are offering their guests?

COVID-19 has guests asking for new in-room features. This has hoteliers rethinking the way they provide in-room entertainment.

Over-the-Top or Streaming content is changing the entertainment experience in hotel rooms. The ability to stream content to mobile devices and access to On Demand programming is not just a nice to have feature, it’s an expected amenity today.

That is why DIRECTV’s AEP is such an important product for the hotel space. Cost-effective, live programming will continue to be important for guests to have access to the most up-to-date news, sports and information. But having the availability of thousands of On Demand options from the top networks allows hoteliers to provide additional entertainment options without additional capital expense and complexity.

What makes DIRECTV’s services unique and effective in the Hotel space?

Through many years of ongoing dialogue with hoteliers, DIRECTV has ensured that their product roadmap provides answers and solutions that directly address your Hotel guest’s satisfaction and entertainment requirements now and in the future.

The DIRECTV Residential Experience, COM3000 and Advanced Entertainment Platform solutions are all the outcome of feedback from the industry’s top hoteliers. The results have been the most guest-centric, easy to use, cost-effective hotel entertainment experiences available today.

What Entertainment Trends Does Your Hotel Need to be Aware Of?

As a result of the pandemic, hoteliers are actively evaluating in-room entertainment options.

Of considerable importance to hoteliers is the findings on the growing average number of personal devices that guests are now bringing with them and expect to connect to a hotel’s Wi-Fi service.

While 45 percent of guest respondents to the 2020 Guestroom Entertainment Survey indicated that they travel with at least two devices, more than a quarter disclosed that they now travel with three, and almost 10 percent stated that they bring at least four.¹

Guests are Remaining in-Room During Their Stays

Guests seeking to remain in guestrooms due to COVID-19 risks while attempting to keep themselves occupied can place a strain on existing hotel networks. How are your Hotel’s Wi-Fi capabilities affecting your guest’s experience.

A reliable Wi-Fi network connection’s importance to guest satisfaction is growing and with the mass adoption of streaming services and at-home casting technology by consumers, the desire to cast personal content from mobile devices to guest room televisions continues to grow rapidly. 67 percent of 2020 guest respondents said they seek availability of the ability to cast personal content to the In-Room TV.¹

More and more properties we service are looking into upgrading to “SMARTV’s” to provide this casting ability for their guest.  A crucial finding for hoteliers is that 50 percent of guest respondents today indicate that the availability of wireless casting could affect their booking decision, while only 26 percent of hotelier respondents reported being currently able to offer the functionality.¹

With the growing diversity of apps and streaming services now being used by guests, the survey reveals a greater need for hoteliers to adopt comprehensive in-room entertainment services that are compatible with the ever-expanding range of third-party applications in order to offer a high-quality and personalized guest experience.¹
